Jays Care 50/50 FAQ – March 2025

 

What is Jays Care’s 50/50 raffle?

Jays Care’s 50/50 raffle is the biggest 50/50 in Major League Baseball and the ultimate win-win for you. When you purchase a 50/50 ticket, half the proceeds will be allocated to the grand prize, while the other half will go directly to Jays Care programming in communities across Ontario and Nova Scotia.

What kind of Jays Care programming and charitable causes is my purchase contributing to?

Jays Care Foundation uses the power of baseball to help level the playing field and improve the lives of youth facing barriers across the country. This includes children living with physical and cognitive disabilities, Indigenous youth, and young girls and boys who may not otherwise have the chance to participate in organized sports. Through its life-changing programming, Jays Care is building a Canada where kids of all backgrounds and all abilities have a place on a team where they belong.

How does each jackpot work for the 2025 season?

50/50 Jackpots are split into two categories for the 2025 regular season:

Homestand Jackpots: All ticket sales for this kind of jackpot are combined over the course of a homestand, with the winning ticket being awarded at the end of the final home game of the homestand. 

Mega Jackpots: To celebrate both the start, midpoint, and end of the regular season, Jays Care will host three Mega Jackpots. Rather than awarding a winner at the end of each homestand, these 3 jackpots will combine sales for a prolonged period. Below is the jackpot schedule for the regular season:

  • Mega 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Thursday, March 17 - Sunday, May 4

  • Homestand 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Monday, May 5 – Thursday, May 22

  • Homestand 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Friday, May 23 – Thursday, June 5

  • Homestand 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Friday, June 6 - Sunday, June 22

  • Mega 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Monday, June 23 – Wednesday, July 23

  • Homestand 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Thursday, July 24 – Sunday, August 3

  • Homestand 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Monday, August 4 - Sunday, August 17

  • Homestand 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Monday, August 18 - Sunday, August 31

  • Mega 50/50 & Bonus Raffle: Monday, September 1 - Sunday, September 28

Who is eligible to purchase 50/50 tickets online?

Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to purchase online 50/50 tickets:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of purchase.

  • Must be located within the province of Ontario or the province of Nova Scotia at time of purchase.

  • Must not be one of the following:

    • Member of Jays Care Foundation’s Board of Directors.

    • Full-time, part-time or student employee of Jays Care Foundation.

    • An employee of the Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario.

    • An employee of the Alcohol & Gaming Authority of Nova Scotia.

    • Employees of the supplier of the 50/50 System who and involved with the development and/or support of the 50/50 System.

Do fans have to live in Ontario or Nova Scotia to play?

Fans do not need to live in the province of Ontario or Nova Scotia to purchase a 50/50 ticket, but they do need to be physically located within the province of Ontario or the province of Nova Scotia at the time of purchase of their online 50/50 ticket to be eligible to play.

I’m a Blue Jays fan currently outside of Ontario or Nova Scotia. Can I purchase a ticket?

Unfortunately, no. In Canada, the regulation of 50/50 raffles fall under provincial jurisdiction. Currently, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and the Alcohol & Gaming Authority (AGA) of Nova Scotia have reached an agreement to extend sales to buyers physically located in Ontario or Nova Scotia. Jays Care is hopeful that further agreements will be reached over the coming months and years to offer sales in additional provinces or territories.

If I’m visiting Ontario or Nova Scotia, am I eligible to buy tickets?

Yes! As long as you are located in the province of Ontario or the province of Nova Scotia at the time of purchase, you are eligible to buy 50/50 tickets online.

Are fans in both Ontario and Nova Scotia eligible to win the same jackpot?

Yes! Any fan who purchases a 50/50 ticket in Ontario or Nova Scotia are eligible to win the same grand prize jackpot.

How will the proceeds from each jackpot be split and invested across provinces?

All proceeds from tickets sold in each respective province, will be directly invested into supporting kids in Jays Care programming across that province. Therefore, if you purchase a ticket in Ontario, the proceeds from your ticket will be supporting kids in communities across Ontario. If you purchase a ticket in Nova Scotia, the proceeds from your ticket will be supporting kids in communities across Nova Scotia.

How can fans pay for their online 50/50 ticket?

Fans can purchase 50/50 tickets online with the following payment types:

  • Visa

  • Mastercard

Can you get a tax receipt for your 50/50 ticket purchase?

Unfortunately, no. Lottery ticket purchases are not tax deductible as per the CRA guidelines. This is because there is a chance that you will be winning a prize.

What should a fan do if they cannot access the online 50/50 ticket purchase page?

Per the Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and the Alcohol & Gaming Authority (AGA) of Nova Scotia regulations, please be advised that fans must be located within the province of Ontario or the province of Nova Scotia at the time of purchase. The locations services on fans’ purchasing devices must be turned on to verify location prior to entry to the online 50/50 sales platform. Users must also agree to all Terms and Conditions outlined to access the page.

What should a fan do if they purchased a 50/50 ticket but did not receive numbers?

If a fan purchases a 50/50 ticket but does not receive numbers, they should check their junk or spam folders in the event it was flagged by their email provider. If they still do not have their 50/50 tickets, contact jayscare5050@bluejays.com and our support staff will re-send the raffle numbers (some verification will be required).

How do fans find out if they have the winning 50/50 number?

The winning number for the grand prize jackpot will be announced on Jays Care’s social media channels and jayscare.com at 12pm ET the day following the grand prize draw. If the winning ticket was purchased in-stadium, the winning ticket holder will need to come forward and claim their prize. If the winning ticket was purchased online, the Jays Care 50/50 team will reach out to the winner following the drawing of numbers.

I have the winning numbers! How do I claim my prize?

If you purchased your ticket online, a member of the Jays Care 50/50 team will contact you with details on how to claim your prize. If you purchased your ticket in-stadium, you would need to contact jayscare5050@bluejays.com to claim your prize. All prizes must be claimed within 90 days of the relevant draw unless otherwise specified. If at the expiry of 90 days the prize has not been claimed, the prize will be donated to another charitable organization.

I have lost a ticket I purchased in-stadium. What do I do?

Unfortunately, a lost ticket would be deemed voided. Jays Care Foundation will not award a prize for tickets which are voided. Tickets are void if lost, stolen, illegible, or damaged. Keep your ticket in a safe place!

Blue Jays Bonus Raffle FAQ’s

What is the Blue Jays Bonus Raffle?

Introduced last season as an Add-On raffle, the Blue Jays Bonus Raffle gives fans the chance to win even more incredible prizes! When purchasing 50/50 tickets, fans have the option to purchase additional Blue Jays Bonus Raffle tickets for the chance to win exclusive vacation packages, cash prizes, and unforgettable experiences.

How do I participate in the Blue Jays Bonus Raffle?

To participate in the Blue Jays Bonus Raffle:

  1. Select your 50/50 tickets and head to checkou

  2. On the checkout page, select your Blue Jays Bonus Raffle tickets and complete your payment

  3. Check back after the draw date to see if you’ve won!

Do I need a 50/50 ticket to purchase Bonus Raffle tickets? 

Yes, Bonus Raffle tickets can only be purchased in conjunction with and at the same time as your regular Jays Care 50/50 ticket or following the purchase of a 50/50 ticket.

What are the Bonus Raffle Prizes and when are they drawn?

Membership FAQ’s

What is the 50/50 Memberships Program?

New this season, Jays Care has introduced a 50/50 membership program in which fans can automatically opt-in to all future regular season jackpots, so they never miss a draw. 50/50 members also receive early access to raffle elements and exclusive benefits. All details can be found on the Memberships page.

How can I become a 50/50 Member?

Becoming a 50/50 Member is easy! There are two ways you can become a member:

  1. On the Home Page, select your 50/50 tickets for the current jackpot and proceed through the checkout process.

  2. (Optional) Select your Bonus Raffle ticket option

  3. Before entering your payment details, you’ll be asked if you’d like to subscribe to future jackpots.

  4. Select the number of tickets you want to purchase for each draw and the price point.

  5. Complete your purchase, and you’ll be automatically subscribed to future 50/50 jackpots!

  1. Visit the Memberships page.

  2. Select your 50/50 ticket option, which will apply for the current jackpot and all subsequent jackpots.

  3. (Optional) Select your Bonus Raffle ticket option, which will also apply for the current jackpot and all subsequent jackpots.

  4. Click the red button “Proceed to Checkout”

  5. Complete your purchase, and you’ll be automatically subscribed to future 50/50 jackpots!

What are the benefits of becoming a 50/50 Member?

All 50/50 members will immediately receive the following benefits:

  • Direct notifications of grand prize-winning numbers ahead of the public.

  • Advanced information on upcoming raffle prizes ahead of the public.

  • Exclusive Jays Care content.

If an optional Bonus Raffle ticket is added to your membership, the following benefits will also be added:

  • $10 Bonus Raffle – Exclusive and personalized Blue Jays name plate

  • $25 Bonus Raffle – Exclusive and personalized Blue Jays name plate

  • $50 Bonus Raffle – Blue Jays hat and exclusive and personalized Blue Jays name plate

  • $100 Bonus Raffle – Blue Jays hoodie and exclusive and personalized Blue Jays name plate

  • $200 Bonus Raffle – Personalized Blue Jays jersey and Exclusive and personalized Blue Jays name plate

What are the different tiers of 50/50 Membership?

The Membership price points available are the same as a regular 50/50 ticket purchase:

  • 5 numbers for $10.00

  • 25 numbers for $25.00

  • 100 numbers for $50.00

  • 250 numbers for $100.00

  • 600 numbers for $200.00

Reminder: Participation in the Blue Jays Bonus Raffle is completely optional but can also be added to your membership at the same price points as above.

How do 50/50 members receive their tickets?

Members automatically receive tickets via email when sales open for each jackpot.

Is there a fee to becoming a 50/50 member?

No, there is no fee to become a 50/50 member and no minimum commitment!

Will I receive advance notice before my credit card is charged?

Yes, absolutely. Before a new jackpot begins, all members will receive a reminder that their credit card will be charged. At this time, as well as at any other point, members can choose to opt out of their membership by following the steps outlined on the Manage Membership page found at the bottom of the 50/50 website.

Can I cancel my 50/50 membership?

Yes. 50/50 Memberships can be cancelled at any time. To cancel your membership, you have 2 options:

  1. Log in to your account on the Manage Membership page and unsubscribe.

  2. Or email the 50/50 Memberships Support Team at 5050Memberships@bluejays.com with your ticket receipt. Be sure to send it from the email address you used to subscribe.
